The 2019 Junior Golf Queensland event season kicked off with Titleist 2 Day Summer Classic at Mt Coolum Golf Club on Monday 14th and Tuesday 15th January. In very hot and humid conditions more than 130 players teed it up over the two days in the 9 and 18 hole competitions for the opportunity to be crowned Champion.
The 18 hole boys competition was tightly contested with Blaike Perkins (Bargara) shooting an opening round of 69 (3 under) to be overnight leader from local boy Jack Elsely (Mount Coolum) who shot a solid 71 (1 under). Perkins held his nerve to follow up with a one over round (73) on day two to claim the 2019 Boys 36 hole title by two shots from Yevin Samararatne (Windaroo Lakes) who shot rounds of 73, 71.
In the 18 hole Girls competition, Isabella Artcheua (Bundaberg) shot an opening round of 75 (3 over) to be overnight leader by one from Mia Lines (Royal Queensland). Lines proved too strong on day two shooting a round of 74 (2 over) to take out the 2019 Girls 36 hole Championship by six shots over Emily Martin (Emerald Lakes) and Isabella Artcheua.
In the 9-hole competition, Daniel Brown (Indooroopilly) maintained his overnight lead to be crowned 2019 Boys 18 hole Champion with rounds of 36-38 by one shot over Matthys Visser (Redcliffe) who shot 38-37. The overall 2019 18 hole Girls Champion was won by Ellianna MacRae (Maroochy River) with rounds of 41-44 over Gemma Oliver (Pelican Waters) and Lilly Surasen (Maroochy River) who both had a total of 92.

The next 2 Day Classic event will be the Easter Classic held Pelican Waters Golf Club on Monday 8th & Tuesday 9th April, 7.30pm shotgun start. Registrations for this event will open on Monday 25th February.
The first JGQ 18 Hole Points Challenge event will be held at Indooroopilly Golf Club on Sunday 10th February, 7am shotgun. Entries are now open, register now!
The first of JGQ 9 Hole Challenge event for the year will be held at Redcliffe Golf Club on Sunday 17th February, tee off from 12.45pm. Entries are open, please register via the events webpage.
