Caleb Perry (Warrnambool GC, VIC) & Belinda Ji (Concord GC, NSW) have been crowned 2016 SA Junior Amateur Champions.
The Championship was conducted over 54 holes 11-12 January, with the first 36 holes held at Kooyonga on day one and final 18 holes on day two at West Lakes Golf Club.
The boys leader after the first day was Jayden Bayliss (Gladstone GC, QLD) with rounds of 70, 76 (+2). With the low rounds at Kooyonga, Bayliss claimed the Kooyonga Summer Cup.
Heading into day two, Bayliss held a one-stroke lead over Glenelg’s Frank Vucic +3, while Perry was one stroke further back at 4-over.
In the final round at the West Lakes Golf Club, Perry fired a superb four-under round of 68 to finish with a 54 hole total of 216, five-strokes ahead of Kieren Vogels (Huntingdale GC) who closed with a 71. Bayliss, finished third on 221 with rounds of 70, 76, 75.
In the Girl's Championship, Belinda Ji (Concord – NSW) fired a superb first round five-under 69 to set up her win. Despite a second round 77, Ji claimed the tournament by four strokes after closing with a final round 75. Ji finished four strokes ahead of Chia Yen Wu (Miramar GC) 81, 72, 72 (225). Best placed South Australian was Jin-young Yu (The Grange GC) who finished 10th.
In the Girl's B Grade Cup (Stableford), Jessica Smith (Stirling North GC) 64 points claimed victory with scores of 19, 27, 18 points.
