Norway&aposs Suzann Pettersen has claimed the Safeway Classic by two shots after a phenomenal choke by former world number one Yani Tseng. Pettersen held her nerve to post a final-round five-under 67 at the Columbia Edgewater Country Club in Portland, Oregon, but she benefitted largely from Tseng&aposs meltdown. The overnight leader by three strokes, Tseng went six over – some 15 shots worse than her nine-under 63 on Saturday – to slip to a tie for ninth at 12 under. Tseng is now winless in 37 tournaments dating back to March last year. Pettersen won at 20 under overall for her 12th LPGA Tour success and second for 2013, ahead of Americans Stacy Lewis (18 under), Lizette Salas (17 under) and Cristie Kerr (16 under). Germany had two representatives in the top six – outright fifth Caroline Masson and Sandra Gal, who was tied for sixth with American Gerina Piller. Piller shot the day&aposs best round of six-under 66 to catapult herself 22 spots up the leaderboard to a top-10 finish. Australian Karrie Webb finished the tournament in eighth spot at 13 under, while a group of six – including Tseng – rounded out the top 10. Thailand&aposs Pornanong Phatlum began the day level with Pettersen, but shot a three-over 75 to finish at 12 under. Joining Phatlum and Tseng were Dutchwoman Dewi Claire Schreefel and Americans Lexi Thompson, Austin Ernst and Sandra Changkija.
