Pezza set for Japanese Tour Card

Dylan Perry sits in a tie for 10th place after the opening two rounds of the final stage of the Japanese Tour School at the Central Golf Course in Ibaraki.

The Hunter Valley product has carded back to back 68’s to sit just four shots behind the leader, Japan’s Yuwa Kosaihira.

Perry described the conditions as severe over the first couple of days, with the weather gods not playing fair.

“It was a grind early. The weather was ugly so was just a matter of being patient and being smart,” Perry said. “ It cleared up after nine holes, and good shots were rewarded.”

Perry said the second round was a much easier task than the first.

“The weather was much better today. I have putted pretty well too, but it is a course that rewards good driving.

The 23-year-old is well aware his task isn’t complete, and with four rounds to go, fatigue will be an issue.

“It’s a long week, so you just have to manage yourself mentally and physically; especially with the rounds being over 5 hours,” he added.

The field will be cut to the top 90 and ties after four rounds, and besides Perry, a number of Australasians are still in with a chance of securing playing rights on the lucrative tour in 2019.

West Australian Scott Strange is in a tie for 68th alongside Kiwi Ben Campbell, while Harry Bateman and Andrew Evans are just outside the mark in a tie for 91st at one under par. Sydneysiders Scott Arnold and Neven Basic are two shots adrift of the target at even par, and Newcastle’s Callan O’Reilly is in a tie for 126th. Michael Sim has a lot of work to do, sitting in 154th place.
