The Rural City of Murray Bridge and the Murray Bridge Golf Club will host the Murray Bridge PGA Classic, a new event to be played in April 2016.
As part of the Choice Hotels PGA Pro-Am Series, the Murray Bridge PGA Classic will be played at the picturesque Murray Bridge Golf Club from April 21st to 23rd.
With $35,000 of prize money on offer, it is the premier Professional golf event in the state and is sure to attract some of Australia’s best up and coming Professionals.
The tournament will be run over three days in the form of a pro-am, giving local and visiting amateurs the opportunity to tee it up with a Pro.
The Murray Bridge Golf Club has a history of hosting PGA tournaments, including the South Australian Trainee Championship, which it hosted for several of years, and with a number of changes since then the club is excited about this new opportunity.
“It is a promising time for golf in both Murray Bridge and South Australia. We’re hoping this exciting new event will help to springboard a new chapter of Professional golf in South Australia,” said Cameron Davies, Southern Division Tournament Coordinator at the PGA of Australia.
The council has been a key player in the introduction of this new tournament. Their contribution has provided the Murray Bridge Golf Club with a great platform for future growth of the tournament.
“The Rural City of Murray Bridge prides itself in bringing significant sporting events to the region and the Murray Bridge PGA Classic is no exception. We look forward to welcoming all the Professionals and amateurs to our city,” said Murray Bridge Mayor, Brenton Lewis.
A strong field is expected to be on hand to contest over the three days. PGA TOUR regular Jarrod Lyle, together with Jason Norris and Max McCardle have all teed it up on the Choice Hotels PGA Pro-Am Series this year.
