Jessica Pickwick and Antony Majstorovic have hit the lead of the Westcoast Open Amateur at the conclusion of day 2 which saw some fantastic scoring across the board.
It was a cold and dark start for players at Port Fairy this morning in contrast to yesterday’s pleasant afternoon on course. The chilly breeze added to the challenge of the links style layout, with many players finding the marram grass hard to contend with as it was.
Pickwick is showing steady form with two rounds of 4 under par 68 for a 54-hole total of 213 (-3).
The Kilmore member is now 6 shots clear of Cobram-Barooga’s Steffi Vogel on 219. Local favourite and leader after round 1 Joanna Flaherty (Port Fairy) is a further 5 shots back from Vogel on 224 and 5 shots ahead of Commonwealth’s Sheradyn Johnson.
Leap frogging into the men’s lead is Antony Majstorovic who posted a 1 under 36-hole total for 214 total, to take a one shot lead into the final round ahead of Tim Walker (Yarra Yarra), and a further shot ahead of yesterday’s runner-up Caleb Perry (Warrnambool).
Play will move Back to Warrnambool tomorrow morning from 7:30am for the final round with another day of nice weather predicted.
