Pickwick captures Country Champs double

Jessica Pickwick has secured the 2015 Victorian Women’s Country Championship after defeating Jo Flaherty 3&2 in this morning’s 18 hole final at Tocumwal Golf Club.

Pickwick the 2013 Country Championship runner-up, has now achieved the rare feat of winning both the Betty Kernot trophy outright & the Country Championship title in the same year. A feat which was last achieved by Sue Wooster when the event was last played at Tocumwal GC in 2011.

The Kilmore member made the turn with a slight 1up advantage over Flaherty before moving to a lead of 3up after twelve holes which she maintained to take the final by a margin of 3&2.

Flaherty, for the second year running, finished the event with the runner-up title and will be hoping it is a case of ‘third time lucky’ when the title moves to Rich River Golf Club in 2016.

Golf Victoria would like to extend sincere thanks to Tocumwal GC for staging this year’s Country Championships. The Tocumwal ladies committee, members, volunteers and club and ground staff are to be commended on their superb hospitality.
