After a hot and sunny morning at Flinders Golf Club, the weather took a turn for the worse and unfortunately play was abandoned due to dangerous conditions. Players braved the strong winds and heavy rain for the first 9 holes of round 1 before lightning began to strike within a proximity that was deemed unsafe. Therefore, the decision was made to bring players in and consider all scores for round 1 to be void. There were no complaints from any of the competitors today as many raced into the clubhouse and declared they had no intentions of heading back out there.
The tournament will now be held as an 18-hole competition at Portsea Golf Club tomorrow. The forecast is looking much more promising and should make for a much more enjoyable day for players. Players will tee off at 8:00am lunch will be provided after the round during presentations.
