Play golf to fight against stroke

BELLARINE COUNTERSTROKE CLASSIC Conducted by the National Stroke Foundation and supported by Trust Foundation Are you ready to tee off to help stop stroke? The fourth Bellarine Peninsula Counterstroke Golf Classic will take place in September 2009. As usual, golfers may play in one, two or all of the Four-Ball events, either in mixed, women’s or men’s competitions. The Counterstroke Golf Classic tournament has been played annually since 1994, and has raised significant funds for the National Stroke Foundation in its efforts to promote stroke awareness, prevention, support and research. The Bellarine Counterstroke Classic will have three days of golf this year using a new venue and the following timetable of events: Wednesday September 2nd: Thirteenth Beach (Creek Course) Fee $140 a pair. The Creek Course was designed by Tony Cashmore in conjunction with six time major championship winner Nick Faldo. According to Cashmore, the Creek Course “has the feel of the very best of Melbourne&aposs sand belt through its gently rolling terrain and broadly separated fairways.” Thursday September 3rd: Thirteenth Beach (Beach Course) Fee $140 a pair. This is our first opportunity to play the Classic on this highly-acclaimed links course which features a marvellous set of Par 3s amongst dunes and coastal vegetation. Friday September 4th: Barwon Heads Golf Club, where a shot-gun start will commence at 8:30am sharp. Fee $190 a pair. This includes a light luncheon in the clubhouse after play. Join the competition to win the John Gourlay Cup. The Links at Barwon Heads regularly rates in Australia&aposs top 30 courses. The nearby Bass Strait and sand dunes along with the weather conditions provide a links reminiscent of famed Scottish links.
