Gordon Claney (Kingston Heath) and James Lavender (Northern) are tied at the top after round one of the 2019 Alpine Senior Masters.
The stunning Bright layout was presented in superb conditions as a full field took to the fairways for the first round of the two day tournament.
Claney and Lavender both finished on 71 to lead by two from Corowa’s David Robb.
Guy Krall (The National) rounds out the final group finishing with a 75.
The nett section sees Alan Buckley (Commonwealth) and Wayne Aigner (The National) tied on 68 nett.
The pair playing off 8 and 9 respectively will be the ones to catch when play continues tomorrow morning.
Only one shot back from the duo is Gary House (Sanctuary Lakes) and John Balgue (Green Acres).
In the Women’s scratch stableford section, defending champion Judy Langford (Wodonga) has a comfortable six shot lead after her score of 30 points.
Trailing Langford is last year’s runner-up, Gardiners Run’s Sue Lush.
Lush finished her day with 24 scratch points.
Kary Barcelon (Patterson River) has a one-shot advantage in the stableford section, after her score of 34.
Closely following Barcelon is Margaret Llewellyn (Bellarine Lakes) on 33 and scratch stableford leader Judy Langford on 32.
Players will be back bright and early tomorrow as play will commence from 8am.
