Play underway at Australian Open

Play is underway again at New South Wales Golf Club at La Perouse. A passing weather trough had caused wind gusts of up to 65 km/hr and forced a suspension of the morning&aposs play. Tournament Director Trevor Herden said the weather front had come earlier than expected. “We were expecting a front later today but it arrived early,” Herden said. “There are no issues with the golf course- it&aposs simply a matter of weather and we consider the current wind gusts to be unreasonable to expect players to compete in.” “We have had balls that are blowing around on greens and balls that are being blown off tees while players are setting up for tee shots,” Herden said.
