Playgolf WEEK launched in SOUTH AUSTRALIA

/> Playgolf WEEK – Monday 28 Oct – Sun 3 November 2013

As a result of Golf SA’s local Golf Month promotion last November, which was an initiative to market the game of golf and golf club membership, National Sporting Organisation Golf Australia in conjunction with Golf South Australia has launched Playgolf WEEK, a new week-long initiative to raise awareness and participation of golf.

Playgolf WEEK will be staged throughout South Australia from 28 October – 3 November 2013 and include a public launch at the Golf SA headquarters at North Adelaide Golf Course, a ladies ‘Sip and Swing’ evening hosted by Australia’s much loved Kerri-Anne Kennerley, a MYGolf Junior Day, as well as an Urban Golf event in Adelaide’s CBD.

CEO of Golf Australia, Stephen Pitt, believes Playgolf WEEK is a fantastic vehicle for individuals to discover golf as an accessible, colourful and fun past time.

“The vision for Playgolf WEEK is to encourage more people to play golf more often and educate Australians on the benefits of playing golf as a good way to stay active and social throughout life.

“Playgolf WEEK 2013 will be held as a pilot campaign in South Australia with the potential for a wider campaign next year. We are pleased to work with Golf South Australia in bringing this initiative to life in 2013 and look forward to growing the initiative in the future”, said Mr Pitt.

40 golf clubs across South Australia will participate in Playgolf WEEK with these clubs staging several special events across the week, including an Open Day on Sunday 3 November for their local communities. All clubs will be promoting a special membership offer throughout Playgolf WEEK.

CEO of Golf South Australia, Chris Luz-Raymond, is delighted South Australia will stage the first Playgolf WEEK and hopes the initiative will encourage South Australians to try golf in some capacity over the course of the week.

“We are committed to bringing golf front of mind throughout the week-long initiative with something for both first timers and die-hard golfers. Activities will be at North Adelaide Golf Course and other locations in the city as well as the myriad of terrific courses situated in both metropolitan and regional areas of South Australia”, said Mr Luz- Raymond.

A week-long competition will be open to all South Australians that visit a Playgolf WEEK club or attend a Playgolf WEEK activity, with the chance to win a weekend at the 2013 Emirates Australian Open in Sydney up for grabs.

Playgolf WEEK will be supported by TVC featuring Adam Scott as well as a print, radio and social media campaign.
