Plenty to celebrate at 2011 Open

The 2011 ISPS Handa Women’s Australian Open kicks off today at Commonwealth Golf Club with a stellar field, including World No.1 Jiyai Shin, vying for the Patricia Bridges Bowl. In addition to the world-class golf on offer, all gate takings from the four days will go towards Flood Relief in Queensland, ensuring patrons can enjoy a day at the golf knowing their ticket cost will help Queensland residents trying to recover from the recent flooding. At 8.00am on the 10th tee, four-time champion Karrie Webb (AUS) will tee-off with 15 year old pro Alexis Thompson (USA) and Stacy Lewis (USA). In the next group at 8.10am on the 10th tee, World Number 1 Jiyai Shin (KOR) begins her campaign paired with European Number 1 Lee-Anne Pace (SAF) and former British Open champion Karen Stupples (ENG). At 8.20am on the 10th tee, NSW Women’s Open champion Caroline Hedwall (SWE) will play alongside Royal Canberra Ladies Classic winner and amateur Ashley Ona (QLD) and LPGA player Sarah Kemp (AUS). In the afternoon at 12.50pm on the 1st tee, World Number 5 Yani Tseng (TPE) is paired with World Number 19 Australian Katherine Hull (QLD) and former European No.1 Gwladys Nocera (FRA). In the next group at 1.00pm on the 1st tee, former champion Laura Davies (ENG) tees off with compatriot Melissa Reid and Australia s Lindsey Wright.
