The Australian golf industry gathered on Monday for the third annual Premier's Cup which saw approximately $304,000 raised for the Royal Women’s Hospital.
Royal Melbourne Golf Club hosted a number of corporate golfers, celebrities and representatives of the golf industry including CEO of the PGA of Australia Gavin Kirkman and the CEO of Golf Australia Stephen Pitt.
The Premier’s Cup was run in conjunction once again with the Australian Golf Industry Council (AGIC) and provides the perfect platform for the corporate world and the golf industry to network amongst each other while raising funds for a very worthy cause.
The winner on the day was the team from Collingwood Football Club consisting of David Emerson, Peter Murphy, Chris Naish and Peter Robinson, in their first Premier’s Cup appearance.
PGA of Australia CEO Gavin Kirkman said the Premier’s Cup is a great asset to further enhance golf’s standing in the Victorian sporting landscape.
“The PGA of Australia is proud to have been associated with the Premier’s Cup since the first edition back in 2016,” said Kirkman.
“It’s a great way for the golf industry to share ideas with a variety of stakeholders and in turn grow the game of golf, all while supporting a worthy cause.”
Golf Australia Chief Executive Stephen Pitt was delighted the day had been such a resounding success.
“It’s a great show of unity in the Victorian community and the golf industry as a whole,” Pitt said.
“We are excited to be able to play our part in the ongoing success of the Premier’s Cup and we’re glad such worthy partners can benefit as a result.”
Following the action on the golf course, participants attended the Gala Dinner where the money was raised for the Royal Women’s Hospital.
Items up for auction at the Gala Dinner included golf experiences at The Open Championship, US Open and World Cup of Golf as well as exclusive tickets to the Boxing Days Test Match and 2019 Formula One Australian Grand Prix.
