Price closes in on lead

Australian Aron Price has fired a five-under-par round of 67 to move into equal sixth position and just six strokes behind leader Richard Sterne after three rounds of the Johnnie Walker Classic in Thailand. Price made three birdies on the opening nine, and a further two on the back nine to move up the leaderboard to finish seven-under-par, six strokes behind Sterne who fired his second consecutive round of 64. The South African tore up the course, making eight birdies without a blemish to take a one shot lead into the final round, with overnight leader Oliver Wilson ready to pounce at 12-under-par after a round of 70. In outright third place in Anton Haig who also fired a 70, to be well placed at 11-under-par, while New Zealander Richard Lee is in outright fourth place two shots further back at nine-under-par. South African Retief Goosen is in fifth place at eight-under-par, but the World No.8 could have been much closer to the lead if it wasn&apost for an up-and-down day which netted six birdies and six bogeys. The former US Open champion made three early birdies to take a share of the lead at 11-under-par before three consecutive bogeys dropped him back to the pack. A bogey at the final hole after an errant iron shot kept him five off the pace, but still well in the hunt with 18 holes remaining. Scot Colin Montgomerie is tied with Price at seven-under in a group which also includes Graeme Storm and Wen-Chong Lian. Australian James Nitties fired a disappointing round of 74 to be tied for 11th place at five-under-par with World No.6 Ernie Els and five other players. After four early birdies in his round World No.4 Adam Scott fell back, and is ten strokes from the lead carding a round of 70 which left him at three-under-par and seemingly out of contention.
