Puckett, who was a semi-finalist at the 2009 US Women’s Senior Amateur Championship, fired an opening round 1-over par 75 to lead defending champion Sylvia Donohoe by three in perfect conditions. Queensland s Wendy O Connell fired a 5-over par 79 to be in a share of third place with Victorian Libby Day. The second qualifying round continues on Tuesday before the leading 16 players advance to match play for the major championship, in addition to four age match play divisions. Australian Men’sSenior Match Play Championship, Round 1 Defending champion Stefan Albinski will take on 2007 champion Chris Coats (QLD) in his first major battle of the Australian Men’sSenior Match Play Championship at Thirteenth Beach Golf Links on Tuesday. Albinski comes into the second round following an opening round bye while Coats held off New South Welshman Robert Angus to win on the 20th hole in the closest match of the day. 2008 champion Denis Dale (NSW) defeated Victoria s Paul Fink 6&5 to progress to the second round. The second round begins on Tuesday.
