Pymble Golf Club’s Corey Jones sealed his team’s place in the 2016 Eric Apperly Shield final after thrilling play-off win against the ACT/ Monaro’s Joshua Armstrong at Stonecutters Ridge yesterday.
Jones and Armstrong endured a nervous seven day wait to resume their match after it was called off due to bad light last Sunday.
The pair resumed their 21st hole with Jones facing a shot of 164 metres to the hole while Armstrong had only 103 remaining. The hole was halved in pars. The pair then conducted a ding dong battle over another three holes until Jones finally sealed the contest on the 7th play-off hole with a par.
Pymble now face the Australian Golf Club in the final this Sunday at Liverpool Golf Club. Play begins at 10.56am.
