How many years have you been a part of the Victorian men’s team?

This will be my second year in the men's team and previously I played in the boys' team for two years.

This will be your first time captaining the side. Are you looking forward to it?

Definitely. I think it will be a big honour. There’s going to be a bit of pressure trying to uphold the team's result from last year obviously getting over the line where we all got up – the ladies, mens and junior teams. I feel a bit of responsibility but it’s going to be a good experience for me and hopefully I can get the team over the line.

Have you ever played golf at Brisbane GC before or many courses in Queensland?

No I haven’t. I have played Keperra GC for the Keperra Bowl a couple of times but apart from that I haven’t played too much in Brisbane.

How many years have you been in the VIS squad and can you tell us about what you do there?

I was inducted in November 2014 so about a year and a half now. We’re there Monday, Wednesday, Friday. We’re generally in the gym at 6:30am with Luke Mackey (Strength and Conditioning coach). From there we travel to Spring Valley where we’re met by Marty Joyce (Head coach) and Darren Cole (Assistant coach). We use the range there at Spring Valley to work on technical game and we have a hub there which provides Trackman, Puttlab and all that kind of stuff. Then it varies, if there is a local tournament coming up we might go and play that course or we can jump onto Spring Valley and play 9 holes there.

Talk us through your Summer of golf including winning the low am at the Oates Vic Open &  representing Australia in the Bonallack Trophy in Portugal. How have the last few months been?

I’ve found it pretty cruisey. I’ve spent a lot of time in the gym I’ve noticed. Apart from the Vic Open, AMOTA and Aussie Amateur it hasn’t really been too busy. Vic Open was the last individual tournament I played and obviously I’ve just come back from Portugal, but there was a 3-4 week stretch in the middle there where I got some good work done in the gym and then we’ve been working on my technical game.

Where do you want to take your golf over the next few years?

It will all depend on how I go overseas this year, my form and where I am at mentally and physically. Best case scenario I’d like to turn pro at the end of this year and see if I can go through the European Tour pathway. But I mean that’s just the rough draft at the moment. I could not play well overseas or an injury comes up and I’d have to postpone my plans for a while. Ideally within 24 months I’d like to see myself turning pro and playing up there in the big tournaments.
