Rain clears at Flinders

 Round 1 of the Mornington Peninsula Senior Amateur was played today at the picturesque Flinders GC. After threatening skies for the most part of the morning, the weather cleared up to a sunny but blustery afternoon for the 61 players.

Leading the men’s field are Ken O’Brien (Rossdale) and Allan Bullas (Commonwealth), both carding strong scores of 3 over par 72. Following a mere 2 shots behind are Ian Frost (Bendigo) and Gary House (Sanctuary Lakes) with a pair of 74s. House is also leading in the nett section with a nett 68, tied with Stuart Allen from Peninsula-Kingswood.

Local member Maryann Elson from The Dunes is leading the women’s field with 31 pts, with Jenny Long (Box Hill) and Colleen Armstrong (Rich River) closely behind on 29 and 27 points respectively.

Round 2 will commence via a multi-tee start at 8am over at Portsea GC tomorrow morning.
