Ramsay on top in India

Scotland&aposs Richie Ramsay will take a one-shot lead into the final round of the Hero Indian Open as Australian Scott Hend climbed 10 spots to be five shots back. Despite his putter deserting him in the third round, a one-under-par 70 was enough for Ramsay to lead with 11 under overall from Finland&aposs Jaakko Makitalo. Makitalo, playing in the group in front of Ramsay, charged into contention for a first Asian Tour win as he returned to the club house with a 68 at the $1.25 million event. Winner of the event in 2005, Thailand&aposs Thaworn Wiratchant (67) and 19-year-old Panuphol Pittayarat (69) are a shot further back with James Morrison (67) of England at the Karnataka Golf Association course. Hend fired a four-under 67 to jump into a share of 10th place at six-under, while compatriot Scott Barr lies at three under in a tie for 19th place. Tim Stewart is the only other Australian under par, at one under in a share of 27th spot. Ramsay said he was expecting a tight battle for the win with six players to resume the final day within three strokes of the lead. “I actually played nice. I found it tough to play with the wind blowing all over the place,” Ramsay said. “I needed to make some putts which I didn&apost. It was a case of being close but not close enough today.”
