Christine Phibbs, who has been playing for 25 years, described the win as her biggest to date.
“I have won a club gold medal before, but this is the biggest, and because it’s a team event, it’s probably the best,” she said.
“The ladies will be overjoyed at Randwick. I don’t know about the men.
“It’s probably the biggest thing Randwick has ever won to be truthful,” Mrs Phibbs laughed.
Sue Wright, the Ladies Captain at Randwick, was temporarily speechless after the win.
“This is my last year as Captain, so I’m going out on the biggest high I have ever known.
“I am flabbergasted," Mrs Wright beamed, "although I knew we had a good team."
Margaret Neeson, who joined the winners after dashing Asquith Golf club, described winning the Medal as a life-long achievement made even more special by the company of her teammates.
“I play in this event almost every year, and this is an excellent feeling, especially playing alongside these beautiful, lovely ladies,” she said as she admired the trophy alongside Christine and Sue.
The trio was quick to begin plans to celebrate the win, with a trip back to the club and a few glasses of bubbly high on the agenda.
“I think I will be going back home and telling my husband no running tonight; I’m going back to Randwick to celebrate,” Mrs Neeson grinned.
“It will be celebrations all round.”
