Emerging Australian Tahnia Ravnjak is making a great fist of her bid to gain a Chinese LPGA card.
The 24-year-old from New South Wales carded an impressive bogey-free five-under-par 67 to lead the tour’s Q-school at Wanning on southern China’s Hainan Island after round one.
The top 30 players (excluding ties) after 54 holes will receive their full playing card for the 2018 CLPGA Tour season, which tees off in Brunei next month.
Ravnjak, from Cordeaux Heights near Wollongong, is in top form having won the Federal Amateur late last year before taking the pro plunge.
She completed studies at Campbell University in North Carolina in 2016 before taking a role as assistant coach with the Camels after her graduation.
Ravnjak turned pro for the new year, figuring prominently at 13th Beach after round one of the Oates Vic Open last week before ultimately missing the third-round cut.
After her brother Kevin won a PGA Tour China card last week, Sydney’s Celina Yuan is on the edge after round one, carding a 76 to sit T37, while north Queensland’s Gennai Goodwin has dug herself a hole after an opening 81.
