Rawlings Wins Men’s Medal

Riverside Golf Club&aposs Sam Rawlings is the 2013 Tasmanian Men&aposs medallist. The Riverside Golf Club member defeated Victoria&aposs James Bannan on the first hole of sudden-death play-off with a birdie to win the title today at Ulverstone. The pair were forced into a play-off when they finished the 18-hole qualifying round with one-under-par scores of 71. Tied for their place were Kingston Beach&aposs Nathan Gatehouse, Royal Queensland&aposs Alexander McCoy, Devonport&aposs Scott Read and Mark Schulze from Tasmania Golf Club all on even-par (72). The leading qualifier in the men&aposs handicap section was Launceston Golf Club&aposs Samuel Smith. The leading 16 players from today&aposs qualifying round move into the match play sections of the tournament which commenced this afternoon.
