In round four of the Sanderson Cup, The Grange notched up its third straight 5-0 win, Royal Adelaide moved out of bottom position with a stunning 3-2 win over Kooyonga while Glenelg also won 5-0.
After two heavy defeats, Royal Adelaide on its home course, picked up its first win of the season winning on the final hole. Winners for Royal were; Sarah Chia 1up, her first A1 victory and Julie Michelmore 3&2. For Kooyonga Jodie Deacon at number three defeated Anne Ellis 6&5 while number two Lyn McGough won against Juliet Hugo 4&3, squaring the ledger.
In the top match Sophie Hilditch, daughter of former Australian Test opening batsman Andrew Hilditch, and who has been competitive at number one all season battled to get over the line against former professional Hayley Hunt. The match went down to the wire with Hilditch finally securing the match on the 18th, 1up and contest for Royal Adelaide 3-2.
Winning 5-0 over Blackwood, Glenelg moved to second on the ladder. All players had comfortable wins, Matilda Wheare 7&6, Sarah Crocker 6&5, Josie Gale 6&5, Charley Jacobs 6&4 and Elysia Yap 6&4.
The Grange winning 5-0 maintained its spot on top of the table and a guaranteed finals berth defeating The Vines who remain in fourth position.
Wei-jean Foo 9&7 and Jin-young Yun 3&1 both won their fourth straight match of the season while Louise Glennon 2&1 collected her third win, also halving in round one. Caitlin Roberts 6&5 picked up another big win, while number one Ella Adams defeated upcoming junior Caitlin Peirce 4&2.
In round five matches at The Vines, the home side plays Glenelg with a win to Glenelg guaranteeing a finals berth. Kooyonga versus The Grange, could all be academic if Glenelg win, however if Kooyonga can win big and The Vines cause an upset at home, Kooyonga ‘could’ make the final.
The pressure will be on in the final match with Royal Adelaide playing Blackwood. Whoever wins avoids relegation, Royal Adelaide will scrape through if the contest is halved.
