In round four of the ‘Sanderson Cup’ played at Glenelg, the home side squared with The Grange who are now finals bound, along with Kooyonga who defeated Blackwood 4-1.
The Grange lead 2.5 – 0.5 after wins to Caitlin Roberts 8&6 over Matilda Wheare and Cassidy Evreniadis 3&2 against Sarah Crocker. With Louise Glennon halving with Charley Jacobs, The Grange were in the box seat to secure an outright win, however Glenelg’s top order fought back hard.
Jill Hodge defeated the emerging Jin-young Yun 4&3 and Elyisa Yap proved too good for her state counterpart Ella Adams 6&5 to square the overall contest 2.5-2.5.
In the second contest of the day, Kooyonga defeated Blackwood 4-1 to go two contests clear of Glenelg who are in third position.
Kooyonga’s players proved too solid for Blackwood across the board with wins to Jodie Deacon 2&1, Deb Percey 5&4, Lisa Brien 3&1 and former professional Hayley Hunt 3&2.
Blackwood secured its sole point after Jo Buchanan defeated Lyn McGough 3&2.
In next week’s round of matches at Kooyonga, the host side plays Glenelg with victory securing a final berth, while The Grange do battle with Blackwood.
