The Inaugural Golf NSW Sand and Grass Greens Championship is being held on the 20th and 21st of August at Forbes and Grenfell Golf Clubs.
Forbes Golf Club is rated as one of the most picturesque golf courses in country New South Wales, while Grenfell is widely regarded as one of the best sand greens layouts around.
The tournament is the first of it’s kind in the State and will see some the best golfers vie for the title on the grass greens at Forbes on Saturday, followed by the challenge of the dark sand greens of Grenfell on Sunday.
It will also provide an opportunity for golfers from the Forbes and Weddin Districts to test their skill on the course against some elite opposition.
The tournament should be a fun event for all and a novel experience for many competitors.
“Sand greens and grass greens are really quite different from each other to play on,” Golf NSW General Manager-Golf Graeme Phillipson said. “it takes a lot to master the skill required to play well on both. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a talented local be declared the champion come Sunday afternoon.”
A highlight of the weekend for many of the competitors and guests will be a good old dash of country hospitality at the tournament dinner on Saturday Evening at Forbes Golf Club.
