Matthews and Wright fired rounds of 79 and 77 finishing tied on 156 with Langford and Tottenham, who shot rounds of 76 and 80. With many finished competitors eagerly watching, Tottenham and Wright hit excellent drives down the fairway, leaving their partners in prime position for thir next shot. Langford was the first to play. With 150m remaining for her approach shot, she left the ball behind the bunker on the right hand side of the green, leaving the pair a difficult chip if they were to salvage a par. Matthews followed her partner’s composure and landed 107m iron shot to within 8 feet of the pin for birdie. With Tottenham and Langford failing to get up and down for par, Wright sunk the pairs birdie putt do be crowned the 2012 Champions.
Both Matthews and Wright had an up and down day with 2 double bogies and 1 triple bogey, but managed 6 birdies throughout the two rounds. Although defeated in the playoff, it was not all bad news for Langford and Tottenham as the pair managed to take out the 36 hole nett section with a total of 149, as well as the best 18 hole nett score for the morning field with 72.5. Ballarat GC duo, Vicky Waldron and Susan Peters won the afternoon best 18 hole score with 73, knocking off Catharine Odgers (Wodonga) and 2012 Par 3 Champion Jessica Pickwick (Kilmore) on a count back.
