A record 440 golfers have entered next weeks' $400,000 NSW Open at Stonecutters Ridge Golf Club – The largest number of entrants the Championship has seen in the tournament's 85-year history.
The list of competitors includes 11 former NSW Open Champions, including 2015 winner Ben Eccles, four former Australian Open Champions, and golfers who have won on the US PGA, European and Japanese Tours.
Besides the strong local contingent, golfers from Argentina, Canada, China, England, France, Fiji, Germany Hong Kong, Ireland, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Samoa, Scotland, Thailand, and the United States will be competing for the Kel Nagle Cup.
Graeme Phillipson, Golf NSW General Manager of Golf and the tournament organiser, is thrilled with the level of entries.
"This is an excellent number of entries, and the quality of the field is exceptional, the like of which the NSW Open hasn't seen for a long time," Mr Phillipson said.
Names like Senior, Parry, Allenby, and Lonard, alongside future stars like Jason Scrivener, Todd Sinnott, and World Long Drive Champion, Canadian Jamie Sadlowski, will ensure that fans get to some great golf at Stonecutters Ridge Golf Club next week.
146 players are assured of entry into the Championship proper which begins on Thursday, November 10. The remainder will vie for the 10 pre-qualifying spots on offer this Monday, November 7 at one of four venues; Glenmore Heritage Valley Golf Club, Liverpool Golf Club, Long Reef Golf Club, and Federal Golf Club in The ACT.
