Records fall at the Victorian U16 Junior Classic

On a Melbourne morning fit for the beach, it was great to see so many young superstars out on the golf course showing their parents and friends how the game should be played. While some players did find the beach at certain stages during the round, the majority of golf shots were finding nothing but fairways and greens, with even one player ignoring that and going straight for the hole (Charlie Anderson with a hole in one on the 2nd hole).

The Victorian U16 Junior Classic attracted a 52-player strong field with ages ranging from 5 years to 14 years old. With so much talent out on the golf course the final positions in each age group looked to be anyones for the taking.

In a mirror image result to the Term 1 U16 Junior Classic, Harrison Gomez was able to take the overall boys title again with the exact same score of one under-par 53. Harrison continues to break all the records now holding both the U10 & U8 course records, and I’m sure has the overall record score of 47 next on his list of achievements. Will Christensen, Noah Paterson and Kirk Kryskow also had successful days taking home the U16, U12 & U8 boys titles respectively.

Another player with her name scattered across the perpetual trophy is todays overall girls champion Jazy Roberts. This is now Jazy’s third consecutive win at the Vic Junior Classic, with today’s win made just that little bit sweeter as she set a new girls tournament record of 52. In the other girls results Arena Tran & Sophie Mann impressed the scorers with rounds of 86 and 69 respectively to take home the U8 & U10 titles.

Well done to all todays other winners and competitors, we look forward to seeing everyone again at the next junior event.
