Remembrance Golf Day Campaign 8 to 15 November

012 the Australian Defence Force and Golf Australia worked together to initiate the REMEMBRANCE GOLF DAY Campaign to benefit Legacy Australia.

After the inaugural year, our Patron, former Chief of Defence – General David Hurley AC, DSC stated:

“The enthusiasm of the broader Australian golfing community was fantastic for the debut of this event. There were over 70 Clubs and Associations around Australia that participated. All States and Territories were involved with events being held as far apart as Perth, Albany, Darwin, Katherine, Weipa, Penola and up and down the east coast.”

The funds raised have been distributed through Legacy to assist in providing practical assistance for the families of our incapacitated and fallen veterans.

Your support is sought again for this now annual campaign week. Preferably during the week 8 – 15 November 2014, we ask clubs to help raise awareness and donations from their members and visitors.

Many clubs run a special event throughout the year for this worthy cause. We aim to have a key focus in November each year around Remembrance Day and hope all clubs will eventually move their event to Remembrance week.

To ensure that the wonderful contribution of the Golf Community is recognised, we seek your cooperation to pass all your funds raised for Legacy (no matter what time of the year) through the Remembrance Golf Day Campaign Fund.

The Australian Defence Force, Legacy Australia and Golf Australia appeal to the golfers of Australia to show their appreciation to the Service Men and Women, who in these very challenging times are placing their lives at risk to protect us.

Some don’t return from service, while many are returning incapacitated in a variety of ways.

In the week of Remembrance Day; November 8 to 15,  golfers are encouraged to donate to Legacy Australia.
