Last year Legacy Australia, the Australian Defence Force and Golf Australia worked together to initiate the REMEMBRANCE GOLF DAY Campaign. The Patron, Chief of Defence General David Hurley AC, DSC stated after last year: The enthusiasm of the broader Australian golfing community was fantastic for the debut of this event. There were over 70 Clubs and Associations around Australia that participated. All States and Territories were involved with events being held as far apart as Perth, Albany, Darwin, Katherine, Weipa, Penola and up and down the East coast. 100% of the funds raised have been distributed through Legacy to assist providing practical assistance for the families of our incapacitated and fallen veterans. Your support is sought again for this now annual campaign week. Preferably during the above week, we ask Clubs to seek a gold coin donation from their members in addition to the usual green fee. Many Clubs ran a special event refer website for details. We encourage your Club to consider running an event. Some Clubs conduct events for Legacy at other times of the year. We aim to have a key focus in November each year around Remembrance Day, and hope Clubs will eventually move their event to Remembrance Day week. However, we understand Club scheduling and linkages, and Legacy Australia and the families in need of support gratefully accept contributions at any time. To ascertain the full extent the wonderful contribution of the golf community we seek your cooperation to pass all your funds raised for Legacy (no matter what time of the year) through the Remembrance Golf Day Campaign fund. - A Poster for your Pro Shop or other suitable location in your Club with space for you to advise your activity, plus a donation box for gold coin donations.
