Richmond Golf Club fought gallantly in testing conditions on Monday to secure a well deserved victory in the Barclay Shield. The team of Sue Richardson, Pauline Corney, Heather McConnon and Jill Mayne won the team foursomes event with a net score of 165.5. Launceston Golf Club favourites Tammy Hall, Narelle Hayes, Sally Gibb and Maree Coulson claimed the runner-up position with 167.5. Defending champions North West Bay represented by Maree Roberts, Annette Grimes, Sue Miles and Myrna Bedding placed third on 169. The day s best 18-hole net went to Scamander River Golf Club’s Lesley Kellaway and Mary-Anne Ennis on 79.5. Also announced at the conclusion of the Barclay Shield were the winners of the 2012 International Bowl. Introduced in each State by Golf Australia to finance national teams, the International Bowl competition has successfully done so for many decades. The 18-hole club based competition is won by the player with the lowest net score in relation to the club s Australian women’s course rating. The winning scores are then submitted to Golf Tasmania and pitted against other scores from around the state. Golf Tasmania is pleased to advise that many worthy entries were received for this year s International Bowl competition. This year s winners in the silver, bronze one and bronze two divisions were Dianne Cassidy (Mowbray), Marie Richardson (Campbell Town) and Pat O Donnell (Devonport). All results can be found here
