Despite the heat in Adelaide, National Squad members Ryan Ruffels, Jayde Panos, Lucas Herbert and Su-Hyun Oh donned vintage golf attire including long socks, long skirts, braces and even a beret for the Hickory demonstration at The Grange Golf Club to kick off Australian Amateur week in Adelaide. Using equipment provided by the Golf Society of Australia, the quartet swapped their normal clubs for hickory clubs to see what golf was like in decades past. With many clubs having virtually no loft, the players were impressed with how low they could keep their ball flight. Two players said the clothing had actually proved cooler than they expected. The opening round of the Australian Amateur Championships is underway today (Tuesday 14 January) at The Grange Golf Club.
