/> Australia’s best juniors will head to the country’s west to contest the Australian Junior Titles in the coming weeks.
The Australian Boys’ and Girls’ Amateur Championships will be over 72-holes stroke play from 10-12 April, at Pinjarra and Mount Lawley Golf Clubs respectively.
The Girls’ field is exceptionally strong, with recently announced Australian Team Member Minjee Lee (WA) and Su-Hyun Oh (Vic) strong favourites. Lee is the current Australian Amateur Champion and World Number 3, while Oh is the defending Girls’ Amateur Champion and sits just behind Lee in the World Number 4 spot.
They won’t have it all their own way, with SA’s Jenny Lee also sure to be a major contender, after finishing runner up in the 2013 Australian Amateur Championship.
In the Boys’ event, World Number 19, and Australia’s Number 1 Junior, Viraat Badhwar (Qld) will be one of the favourites, while local Curtis Luck will be hoping the trophy remains in WA. Lucas Herbert will fly the flag for Victoria, as will Ryan Ruffels, son of tennis great Ray Ruffels.
The honour rolls are full of great champions, including Adam Scott, Jason Day, Stuart Appleby and Jan Stephenson. With both champions receiving an exemption into the Emirates Australian Open and the ISPS Handa Women’s Australian Open, there is much at stake.
Entry is free for spectators, so come and watch Australia’s finest.
