Riversdale ready for Women’s Foursomes

The field is set for the Australian Women’s Foursomes Championship to be played at the end of this week at Riversdale Golf Club. More than 25 pairs will contest 36 holes stroke foursomes with the winning pair presented with the Nance Marriott Salvers. The 2008 Championship saw joint winners Stephanie Na (SA) and Bree Arthur (QLD), and Clare Choi (Vic) and Stacey Keating (Vic). With Stephanie and Clare having both recently been lured to the professional ranks, the door is ajar for a new champion pair. Many may feel Australian Team Member Bree Arthur, who has paired with Ashley Ona from Queensland, will fight it out with current Karrie Webb Series leader Sarah King from SA, who has teamed with Cara Guest. Ashlee Dewhurst and Sarah Johnstone from Tasmania will also challenge for the trophy, as will National Squad Member Julia Boland from NSW, who will play with Rebecca Blain. With Riversdale Golf Club now being the home of the Australian Women’s Foursomes, the event sees the nation s best players compete, leading up to the Riversdale Cup commencing in the days immediately following the championship. With records indicating the Championship dates back to 1907, it is one not to be missed. With many past winners now playing on the LPGA or European Tours, the future of Australian golf will be on show.
