Argentina&aposs Andres Romero has notched four birdies in his opening six holes to take the lead after the second round of the Reno-Tahoe Open, while Aussie pair Stuart Appleby and Rod Pampling remain in contention. Romero scored 14 points at Montreux Golf and Country Club in the Modified Stableford tournament to take a one-point lead over the United States&apos Gary Woodland, while Appleby and Pampling, plus South Korea&aposs Charlie Wi are all two points further back. In a stunning start to Friday&aposs second round in Reno, Nevada, Romero, who began on the back nine, birdied the 11th, 12th, 13th and 15th holes to move to eight points. While the Argentine double-bogeyed the first hole, five more birdies and a bogey ensured he finished the day on 22 points overall. Woodland recovered from a pair of bogeys midway through his second round to score seven points and rise to 21 for the tournament. Pampling started the day on just two points but produced a phenomenal nine birdies to score 17 and rise to 19 overall alongside Appleby and Wi. Appleby notched seven points on the back of his solid round, while Wi carded a bogey-free round of 15 points, including an eagle on the par-five 13th hole, to also fly up the leaderboard. Overnight leader Josh Teater fell to a tie for 16th on 15 points after breaking even in his second round at Montreux.
