Rookie�s rock Northern�.again!

Northern Golf Club was host to the biggest ever Stuart Appleby Rookie Series event in 2016, and today's field equalled last year’s record breaking number of players.  The sun was shining brightly this morning as the 56-strong field fought for today’s Rookie titles.

In near perfect conditions, Daniel Nagayo came in with the equal low round of the day after carding a fantastic one over-par 37 for top honours in the U12 boys section to cement his place in the final. Taegan Dodds blitzed the field in the handicap segment with a stellar round of 25.

In his first ever Rookie Series event, Brodie Richardson signed for a very impressive score of 37 for top spot in the U16 boys section. Ballarat’s Paddy Murphy carded todays lowest nett tally with a sizzling 23 – 13 shots better than his handicap!

Rookie Series specialist Phoenix Diaz carded 38 in the U9 boys to take home the title by a barnstorming seven shots while Alessandro Tarantelli was too good in the handicap sector firing 29. Sophie Mann notched up yet another win in the U9 girls with a score of 45 taking her count this year to three wins from five events.   

Ainsley Pho will also joined the winners on the podium after proving too strong with her round of 53 in the U12 girls. Zara Shinn-Mahony was the best in the handicap prize taking home the title with her round of 36 nett.

The next Rookie Series event will be at Yarrawonga Mulwala this later week before moving Riverside in early August.
