Northern Golf Club held host to the biggest ever Stuart Appleby Rookie Series event since its inception back in 2012. A massive 56 players turned out in overcast, cool and gusty conditions to fight for today’s titles.
With challenging conditions, Rookie Series specialist Aryan Sharma came in with the low round of the day with a round of 37 for the honours in the U11 girls section. Aryan had a very steady day with eight pars and only the one bogey. Taegan Dodds managed to take home the nett title on a count back in the U11 boys with a great round of 30 nett.
Gracie Larsen notched up yet another win in the U11 girls with a nett score of 36, edging out Zara Shinn-Mahony on a count back. Louise Baliton will find herself in the 2016 final after proving too strong with her round of 46.
Young gun Jeneath Wong came in with the best round in the U16 girls with a score of 42 while Kayli Schenk took out the nett title with a following 31 strokes this morning.
Morten Hafkamp fired a round of 42 in the U16 boys section to secure a victory by one stroke over Max Fedmowski. James Yorke was the best in the handicap prize taking home the title with his round of 34 nett on yet another count back for the day.
The next Rookie Series event will be at Yarrawonga Mulwala this later week before moving Sandhurst in mid-August.
