Rookie wins in Seoul

Mitchell Brown was the best placed Aussie after the final round of the Maekyung Open in South Korea on Sunday firing a 71 to take him into a share of fourth spot at six under the card. 20-year-old Kim Kyung-tae turned in a superb performance to win the event. Kim fired a superb 67 in tough conditions on the final day of the tournament. Aussie Lee Won-Joon experienced golf at its most fickle during the last 36 holes of the tournament. After firing a superb 66 on day three, Lee had a shocker to finish, firing a five-over-the-card 77, sending him hurtling down the leaderboard. At seven under going into the final round, Lee finished on just two under for the tournament on a day that saw mainly high scores. Kim&aposs win is his first on the Asian Tour and comes just five months after the Korean turned professional. Kim trailed by one overnight but stunned the field with his round of 67 to win the Open comfortably by five shots. Other Aussies in the field included Uno Park who fired a 69 to finish at three under, Gavin Flint who finished at one over, Cameron Percy, whose 72 took him to five over and Scott Barr who shot a two-under round of 70 to move to improve to six over.
