Rookies shine at Edithvale

It was a perfect winters day at Edithvale Golf Club with the sun shining brightly all afternoon. Today was the first time a Rookie event had been held at Edithvale and the kids turned up by the truckload, with a whopping 51 players taking to the 9-hole course.

There were some fantastic scores returned but none better than Rupert Toomey with his one over-par 33 for top spot in the under 12 boys. Noah Patterson was also notable with a sold score of 34 to finish runner-up while Benji Fajnkind walked away with the nett honours with 26.

Sophie Mann notched up another win today in the under 12 girls carding a round of 40, two shots better than Hannah Wong on 42. Amelia Goodwin signed for a score of 26 for the handicap title.

Katya Adkin was dominant in the under 16 girls following her round of 37 taking out the best gross score. Ainsley Pho blitzed her handicap by a whopping 10 shots to return the equal low nett score of the day of 23.

Olive Spitty made it back-to-back wins in the under 9 girls carding just 40 shots off the stick. Nicolette Papadatos was too good in the handicap sector recording a nett score of 27.

It was a tussle in the under 9 boys between Samuel Snelgar and William Li. The lead changed multiple times throughout the afternoon but in the end Samuel Snelgar prevailed by a single shot closing with 36. Anton Kovacevic was yet again on the podium with his nett score of 25 in the under 9 boys.
