A huge turnout of players contested in today’s Stuart Appleby Rookie Series event at Sanctuary Lakes Golf Club. The weather gods were looking down on the field and provided the most perfect spring morning, with the sun shining brightly and not the slightest breeze to mention.
Flyn Trembath fired todays lowest gross round with a stellar round of 38 to walk away with the top honours in the under 11 boys section. His brother Jesse also chimed into the winner’s circle winning the handicap prize after a round of 28 nett to notch out Sam Fedmowski on a count-back.
Gracie Larsen continued her dominance in the under 11 girls with yet another victory after her round of 45 this morning. Hannah Wong managed her way around the tricky layout to card 32 for the nett prize. In a day of siblings, Hannah’s sister Jeneath captured the under 16 girls title by seven shots with a round of 40.
After signing for a round of 43, Paul Battaglia narrowly edged out Max Fedmowski on a count back to claim the under 16 boys division. Sam Crozier won the handicap prize in the under 16 boys with a very respectable tally of 29 nett.
The next Rookie event will be contested at the magnificent Dunes (Cups) Golf Club on Saturday 15 October.
