Round 2 – Aussies move into second in Turkey

ROUND 2 LEADERBOARD Australia s Breanna Elliott (VIC), Whitney Hillier (WA) and Minjee Lee (WA) have moved up the leaderboard into a tie for second place after Round 2 of the Espirito Santo Trophy at the World Amateur Team Championships in Antalya, Turkey. The Australians finished with a combined team score of 3-under par (141) to put them in a five-way tie for second with New Zealand, Germany, Canada and Japan. They are five strokes behind defending champions Korea who posted an 8-under par total. Elliott improved on her opening round to shoot a 2-under par 70, mixing five birdies and three bogeys, while Hillier bounced back from her opening round to shoot a 1-under par 71. WA s Lee posted the non-counting score with a 74. Korean Hyo-Joo Kim and New Zealand World Number 1 Lydia Ko share the lead on the individual leaderboard at 5-under par. The Australians have been paired with New Zealand and Japan in the third round on Gloria Golf Club’s Old Course. Australia last won the Espirito Santo Trophy in 2002. Round 3 play begins on Saturday evening (AEST). Each team has two or three players and plays 72 holes of stroke play over four days. In each round, the total of the two lowest scores from each team constitutes the team score for the round. The four-day (72-hole) total is the team s score for the championship.
