John Senden is back on top of the leaderboard after Round 3 of The Emirates Australian Open at The Lakes. Wind was a big factor late on Day 3, but Senden managed to shoot a 2-under 70 and will take a 2 shot lead into the final round on Sunday. Here&aposs the recap of Day 3. Senden is now 7-under for the tournament, but Englishman Justin Rose will rue back to back bogeys at the end of his round on 17 and 18, handing Senden a handy buffer on Sunday. Marcus Fraser and Brendan Jones have fallen off the pace after shooting 4-over and 3-over respectively on Saturday. For the full leaderboard after Round 3 check out our Live Scores The Stonehaven Cup contenders… John Senden (7-under) will play with the lead in the final round after recovering from 2 bogeys on the opening two holes to start Round 3. But he birdied the 6th, then eageled the 11th to keep in touch with Rose who was at one stage a clear leader. Senden finished with birdies on the 13th and 14th to take the clubhouse lead. Justin Rose (5-under) had the lead at 7-under at one stage thanks to birdies on the 1st, 7th, 11th and 12th but he dropped shots on the 17th and 18th and has to settle for 2nd at 5-under. Matthew Jones (4-under) shot a 69 today, putting away 5 birdies and an eagle. Had it not been for 4 bogeys on the 2nd, 3rd, 10th and 15th – Jones could be in the final pairing tomorrow. Kieran Pratt (4-under) was 4-under through 11 holes today before 3 bogeys in his last 7 holes (he did birdie the 13th) saw him finish with a 70 and sits in equal 3rd at 4-under. But it could have been so much better… Peter Senior (4-under) is the wildcard in the Top 5 entering Sunday, shooting a 69 thanks to 5 birdies on the day. This came after a 68 yesterday, so maybe the veteran is just warming up for a title challenge? Stuart Appleby (3-under) was the story from the early starters but despite a 4 birdie day, he finished with bogeys on 15 and 17 to score a 70 and sits in equal 6th. What will frustrate Scott is back to back birdies to open, followed by 2 bogeys in three holes and then 3 more birdies and 2 bogeys to close out his last 8 holes. Marcus Fraser (2-under) fell away today, but there is still life in his campaign, while American Kyle Stanley (3-under) is in striking distance after a 70 that featured 5 birdies – including 4 straight from 11-14. Geoff Ogilvy (1-under) had a better day but might be too far back, while Tom Watson will tee off early tomorrow after a 78. Defending champion Greg Chalmers (1-under) showed some signs he could make a late charge today but 6 shots is a lot to make up.
