Rounds data shows mixed bag for March

Several Australian States saw rounds of competition golf played fall in March.

In comparison to 2014, only New South Wales and Western Australia reported rises, with an average national fall of 1.6 per cent.

The largest decreases were in South Australia (7.3%) and Victoria (5.1%).

But the additional 7000-plus rounds in NSW and almost 500 more in WA helped offset the impact.

The 2015 figures overall, however, remain very positive with rounds up almost five per cent for the year.

All states except Queensland have recorded growth, with the collective metropolitan areas reporting 5.2 per cent growth and 4.7 per cent across regional areas.

Western Australia has again recorded outstanding figures up almost 10 per cent annually, while the Northern Territory’s brilliant 25 per cent growth is exceptional.
