Rumford, Scrivener set for NSW Open

Brett Rumford has entered the NSW Open and will be one of the players to beat at Twin Creeks Golf and Country Club when the championship gets underway in a little over three weeks time.

The Western Australian, who earlier this year won the ISPS Handa World Super 6 event in Perth, is a six-time winner on the European Tour and a three-time winner on the Australasian PGA Tour.

Widely regarded as having one of the best short games in the business, the 40-year-old turned professional in 2000 after a stellar amateur career that included national representation.

Fellow West Australian Jason Scrivener is also a confirmed starter in the Championship.

The 28-year-old, who has been playing on the European Tour for the last couple of years, turned professional in 2010. In 2013 he managed to qualify for four tour cards in the Australasian, Canadian, OneAsia and European Challenge Tours.

He retained his playing privileges in Europe for 2018 after finishing 103 on the Race to Dubai standings.

Scrivener finished tied for 14th in last year’s Open, after opening with matching six-under-par rounds of 66.
