73 pairs participated in today’s Metropolitan Final of the 2015 Royal Women’s Hospital 4BBB. Qualifiers from Metropolitan club events made the journey south east to The National Long Island Golf Club, for a day that exhibited nearly all weather seasons in one.

Pauline Caven and Suzanne Velk (Lakeside) managed the conditions perfectly to win overall with a score of 50 points. This score consisted of an eagle on a par 5 15th from Suzanne, adding a neat 5 points for the pairs total. Claiming the overall runner up prize, was Yarra Yarra pair Marie Reynolds and Annette Philip with another outstanding score of 49 points. There was a countback between 3 groups on 43 points to determine which pairs were lucky enough to qualify for the State Final.

With different conditions for the afternoon field, it was the Box Hill duo of Jenny Etheridge and Conchita Bigley that were victorious with 46 points. Neither player had played at the course previously and were full of praise for the layout and condition of the course. Runners up were Jenny Ng and Wendy Ji from Eastern with 44 points.

All clubs across Victoria have graciously supported this event to raise funds and awareness of the great work that the Royal Women’s Hospital does. The Royal Women’s Hospital is grateful for our contribution and Golf Victoria hopes the support this fundraising achieves will get stronger year after year.

The top 12 from today’s Metropolitan Final will meet with the winner’s and runners up from the District Finals to contest the State Final at Yarra Yarra Golf Club on Friday 26 September.
