Ryan McCarthy set to make his Professional Debut

Former Tasmanian Open and Amateur champion Ryan McCarthy will be making his debut as a professional golfer at the Western Australian PGA tomorrow. The event will be conducted at one of the world s top 10 desert courses, the Kalgoorlie Golf Club, and offers a prize pool of A$110,000. The Seabrook golfer doesn’t currently posses a tour card however is attempting to obtain invitations to play the Western Australian and New Zealand Opens. The 23-year-old will also attempt to pre-qualify for the ISPS Handa Perth International being held at the Lake Karrinyup Country Club. The Perth International is a co-sanctioned European PGA event and will see Rory McIlroy and Jason Dufner chase US$2,000,000 in prize money. The Australasian Tour School will be conducted in December at which time McCarthy hopes to earn his tour card. However, should McCarthy perform well enough prior he could earn sufficient to qualify regardless.
