Women's

Jenny Lee from Glenelg Golf Club will play Victorian Stephanie Bunque from the Victoria Golf Club in the Final of the South Australian Women’s Amateur Championship.

17 year old Bunque ranked 25th in the Australian Girls rankingsprogressed through to the final with a 4/2 quarter final victory over Ebony Heard and 2up against 12th ranked Women’s Amateur Sophie Cusack (Bonnie Doon GC).

Lee the top qualifier after the stroke rounds, progressed through to the final with wins over Victorian Jo Flaherty (Commonwealth GC) 5/4 in the quarter finals, then via a hard fought win over Queenslander Robin Choi (RACV Royal Pines GC) on the 20th hole.

In the Semi Final, Lee had to pull out all stops to defeat Choi on the 2nd extra hole, the Par 5, 2nd.

Choi would have been putting for birdie from 6 foot, but Lee quickly ended the match making eagle, sinking an 11 footer after reaching the green in two.

“I didn’t play great today, didn’t hit it well at all. I finished with eagle to win the match which was pretty good. I’m very relieved I didn’t lose on the 20th again like last year.” Lee said.

Lee is craving for the state title which will be perhaps her last home win with European Tour School scheduled for Dec.

“In the final I will just play my own game. I really want to win. It would be great to finish my amateur career in SA with a win before Q School.” Lee added.
