The Men's and Women’s Senior South Australian Amateur Championship is being played from Monday 3rd – Wednesday 5th September 2018 at the Loxton Golf Club.
The championship played over 54-holes stroke play is an important event on the senior’s calendar with some of the best amateur golfers in Australia vying for Order of Merit ranking points.
The event was last hosted by a Riverland club in 2012 when Barmera played host. Loxton Golf Club is a high quality 18 hole golf course which has been ranked among the top 100 Australian country courses. The club is well positioned to host the championship with its refurbished clubhouse and a range of accommodation options for the visiting players.
The championship is open to all male & female amateur golfers 55 years of age and above who are members of Clubs affiliated with Golf SA or State or overseas associations.
The Men’s Handicap Limit is GA 16.0 and Women’s Handicap Limit GA 28.0.
The 2018 Championship has attracted 79 entrants with 42 players from interstate.

The low marker in the men’s field is defending champion John Davey from Tea Tree Gully GC off +0.5. The low women’s marker off 1.2 is Helen Pascoe from Buninyong GC, VIC.
The first men’s championship was played in 1952 and was won by N Foot, who won the championship 15 times,including nine times in a row from 1956-64. The men’s winner will hold for one year the Veterans Championship Salver donated by Alex McLachlan renamed “Seniors Salver Sept. 1988”
The SA Senior Women’s Amateur was introduced in 2014. Previously, players competed for the SA Veterans Championship Trophy. The inaugural senior championship was won by Juliet Hugo from Royal Adelaide Golf Club.
