MEDIA RELEASE: PGA The 2007 Cadbury Schweppes Australian PGA Championship will have a bigger international flavour with the inclusion of South African Rory Sabbatini in the field for the event to be held at the Hyatt Regency Coolum from December 6-9. The 32-year-old has an international playing record to back up his off-course bravado with 10 top ten finishes in 23 starts on the US PGA Tour this year, including a victory at the Crowne Plaza invitational at Colonial, a runners-up placing at the US Masters and WGC – Bridgestone Invitational, as well as a trio of third place finishes at the EDS Byron Nelson Championship, the Wachovia Championship and The Barclays. He also finished fourth in the FedExCup standings this year. “I am looking forward to competing in my first Australian PGA Championship. I have heard great things about the golf course and the resort at Hyatt Coolum. I can&apost wait to come to Australia and see the Queensland Sunshine Coast to contest this great championship,” said Sabbatini. The Cadbury Schweppes Australian PGA Championship will be the first time the 2003 World Cup winning team member has played a professional tournament in Australia, and in an even bigger coup for the PGA of Australia, it is the only event during the summer of golf in which he will play. “Once again the PGA Championship is building an impressive reputation for attracting the world s best players. Rory is a world class player and along with Adam Scott means our championship will again feature two players from the world top ten,” said PGA Chief Executive Max Garske. Sabbatini created headlines around the world at the Wachovia Championship this year when he declared world number one Tiger Woods more beatable than ever , despite losing to Woods in the final round by five strokes, and has often said that he is not afraid of facing the world s best. Given the depth of talent that will compete at Coolum this year, Sabbatini will get the chance to face the best. The 2007 Cadbury Schweppes Australian PGA Championship will be played at the Hyatt Regency Coolum resort on Queensland s Sunshine Coast from 6-9 December.
